My recent experience...

Alright lads & lasses, now although i've been a member on here for a good few years now, I tend not to post too often as I can't be a***d with all the silly bickering that goes on most of the time.

But... I have to vent off today as I'm pretty p****d off to say the least.

So the story goes.. I responded to a post in which a local lad was asking for a day out/ bit of advice etc and me being me I contacted the said young man and arranged for him to come out with myself and ferreter93, and he asked was it ok to go out on our land this week, and then we would go to his place the following week and have a mooch round there. That's just good hunting 'Etiquette' as far as i'm concerned and how its always been. Now, friday I had a bit of a dilemma with the car so I let him know that we would have to call it off unless he fancied driving as I didn't want to take any risks with the motor and end up getting us stranded!

Anyway, he got in touch and said he didn't mind driving for the day as he's local so it wasn't a problem. The day was back on.

He arrived at my place early that Sunday and I'll be honest , he seemed a genuine lad with a good interest for the sport. Loaded up the equipment and off we set to pick up my cousin and his terriers etc.

Rabbit numbers aren't massive up this neck of the woods (20+ is a great day) but regardless of that, we love being out, watching the mutts work , which im sure is the same for a lot of lads so as we had done our best 2 permissions the weeks previous, we decided on a patch down near the estuary that we hadn't visited in a while, and it usually throws up 10 or 12 on a day.

By half past ten, it had really warmed and although there are tons of holes down there, the dogs weren't marking bugger all, probably due to them being sat out in cover and after a few hours of that and only a few rabbits to show, we decided to go to some newly gained permission up in the hills in the Clwydian vale, which was pretty much virgin land to us but thought we would have a look about and see whats what.

Turned out to be a hell of a walk to get up them hills,( apparently one of them is called cardiac hill!) especially with the sun now beating down and well it was the same story again, nothing at home... Lots of gorse on this land and there where alot of rabbits on top, moving in and out of the gorse but it was un-ferretable, you know the stuff.. Still managed to pick up a few more off there in a couple of hedge sets and then decided to call it a day as it was mid afternoon, red hot, we where all sweating like rapists and the match was on later. I could tell the lads appetite for it was waining as we where walking about and I even took the game bag off him and carried that as well to try and cheer him up! and he was a big strapping lad but anyway...off we went.

Myself and Ferreter93 got dropped off on the way back, said I hoped he'd enjoyed himself, shook his hand and he said he woud be in touch.

Well I heard nothing for a week, not even a thank you for taking us out, nothing at all. Then, that weekend I got a text asking if I would come out the next day, bring the dogs as there should be loads of runs for them, ferrets, long nets etc and be there for mid afternoon ,although id have rather made a decent day of it I said id come our for a few hours. Then I got another text saying leave the lurcher now  you cant bring her, whatever. Got all the gear in the car and then I got a call saying it was now off as it had started raining up his way but we could go to his land next week. Wasn't happy about all this as I felt like I was getting mugged off by now, and I don't like being mugged off one bit.So I had to unload all the gear again, put the stinkers away etc and bite my lip.

I also forgot to mention that while out with us, he took a liking for my hazel pegs and I said I would make him some in the week, which was about 30 odd pegs and that he would collect them when we next went out. I know its no big deal making 30 pegs but it's the thought that counts right? Well they are still sat here now as the ignorant little b*****d has not been in touch since and has ignored all of the polite texts I sent him in the week enquiring if we where on for the weekend. The thing is, he's on here this weekend informing everyone of where he's going this weekend and how he's trying out his new long nets and he'll report his day out ra ra ra and yet he can't even have the decency to text me back or PM me on here after I'd put myself out for the little c**t. I wouldn't have minded him just saying im off out on my own or something but whatever you do, don't ignore me, espescially after i've done YOU a favour. He has really p****d me off and he better hope we dont cross paths anytime soon as I let nobody treat me like a mug.

I'm not going to sound out his name but i'm sure he'll read this as he's on here all the time now it seems and yes, you know who you are..

So, the moral of the story is: Be careful who you take out with you, expect f**k all in return and I mean not so much as a thank you and certainly dont go making 30 odd net pegs for them lol.

Rant over, but im still p****d off about it all to be honest. :censored: :censored:
