Does any one know about a dog called Gentleman Jim he was used in the rat pits in london but not sure , ?

No i just had a look now and the dogs name was billy, he was staff and was champ in the rat pits, then a dog named jacko beat his record, but dont know what breed he was , been trying to find out if there was ever any pictures of these two dogs,

Sorry to take it off topic a bit , pity we still dont have rat pits .

Billy, Jacko an a bitch called Jenny Lind were the dogs with rat pit records.... You'll find Gentleman Jim was Joe Mallens Stafford

jacko was also a staff. black and tan, and weighing 13 pounds.

It just hit me Doc. I ain't all that bright so you'll have to forgive me. I haven't ever hunted dogs like y'all do up there, so it took me a minute. I'm sure barbwire is a nightmare for what you do. One of these days I'll get with someone who drops running dogs on coyote. Looks like as much fun as one man can have.

Just found this for ya mate (didn't read it first so forgive me if its shite!). If I remember right, in some old books there where pics of these dogs but not photographs. The pics were of the type you see here but with the dog named, these might be the same ones but the names of which dogs which may have been forgotton. Stabs would be the man to ask.

Billy was a bulldog cross bull & terrier and considered the progenitor of the Manchester Terrier, despite being a white dog. The Manchester Terrier claim means he often gets mistaken for a black and tan dog called Tiny who was also a terror of the rat pits

hers a couple more pics as requested. the white dog is a full brother to my brothers dog from a repeat mating. cracking character. thanks to my mate for the pics. The brindle dog i believe is the sire, but not 100%
