Hatsan escort magnum and big loads

I've been looking into the Hatsan escort and been thinking about getting one my self. I know the gun has mixed responses from different people.

I was just wondering if anyone who has had experience with the gun could tell me how well it cycles the bigger loads such as 3" magnum cartridges as i have only heard responses about smaller game and clay cartridges from 21g to 32g

i Had one of the early models and everytime i shot the heavy loads it failed miserably, edgar brothers had longer than i did in the 2 years i owned it, sold it for £60 and bought a remington 1187 super magnum and it's never missed a beat even shooting the 63g loads!!

mine dont like out under 32g ,it sticks on the 3rd round if out under that is used i,hope that helps

mine cycles everything............ in fact it has never jammed!!

Thanks for the advice I think i'm going to see if i can get a new (ish) model and try it and i will just have to see how it goes

mine handles bigger loads better, as it uses some to re cycle the bolt, smaller rounds are when it jams

My brother in law has just bought one, we put a wide range of cartridges through it last weekend and it was spot on. His only complaint was that he needed to go back and get 2 of the choke tubes replaced as the threads werent machined properly so wouldnt screw into the barrel.

i have the earliest model and it has work flawlessly for 6 years and i have put everything through it including 3" magnum loads

Save your money and get a winchester SX3, Hatsan escorts are cheap for a reason believe me my mate has a gun shop!!.

 

I started to take a carrier bag out when i shot mine, so i could use it to put all the broken parts in!!!, the early models are shite and so is the repair/aftersales.

Couldn't agree more, save your moner and get something decent, hatstands are cheap for a reason. You get the odd ones that are OK but everyone I've known that's had them they have nothing but trouble. I wouldn't have one given me.

must admit ive had truble with mine today havnt had it long tried 30g no6 ...28g no7.5.... 30g no6 pigeon specials.....only thing its fired what ive put in it is soloway steel 34g no fe3 so rang local gun shop and he said its not the weight its the lenth of the cart so going up tomorrow to get some 30g no6 70mm carts....my escort has 3 1/2 inch chamber

Mine works perfectly fine with everything I use - might get a jam towards the end of a 100 bird comp occasionally when using 28g 23/4 " carts but other then that it's sound I shoot charlies with 50g 1 shot 3" carts and they cycle spot on, the only time that Ive ever seen it suffer was using 2 1/2" cartiridges and it jammed 3 times in a 50 bird shoot, but tbh even with the 2 1/2" carts it wasnt that bad its only a jam in the field might mean missing a chance or two and in a clay shoot you get pair again, but for the price I personally dont think you can complain too much

im with mally!!!!!!!! get yourself a winnie mate.ive never tried owt below 28g's but it cycles anything above it no problems and in 3 year's,never jammed or misfired...

Cant complain about mine, I bought it to save taking my old berretta down on the muck and sand. Its composite stocked and cheap as chips, dont care where I go with it....keep it clean and it will be alright! Looks horrible, feels horrible, but when you squeeze the trigger, the shot comes out the end...no brainer. I had 2 greylags dead in the air and only missed the third cos I got a bit leeds utd....I use 3 inch home loads in it......
