happyferret123 13
If its just from the tail its called rats tail- Rat Tail (aka Tail Alopecia) is where the tail begins to look like a rat's tail, with scaly skin, sparse, bristly hair, and blackheads. This is a harmless condition with no known causes. Aloevera gel works works well to wipe off the black heads. (from STA ferret rescue) http://starescue.org.uk/#/ferret-health-part-1/4541285457 Its quite a handy website for ferret health Edited October 21, 2012 by happyferret123 Quote Link to post
borris 12
Could be an adrenal gland disease that's common in Hobs. Quote Link to post
ferret100 47
Rats Tail most likely, hormone related (not moult related) but unknown why. As long as the tail hair regrows after winter moult and no further hair loss is noted over the body/any other non-normal symptoms, then really nothing to worry about. Quote Link to post
