Guest MOLLY
Not sure about that ,something not right, why would a fell type dog want to sit with its feet in the air,i reckon a dog should be trained to do what it needs to do How dare he train his dog to do party tricks for the kids I think praise for anyone who can train their dog to do any focused activities should be more in order than ridicule? Or is it deemed sissy to you big hard rugged men A dog, who's owner has obviously put time and effort into their dog, would be a steady competent asset rather than an untrained liability in most working situations. I know which one i'd rather have with me and mine on a day out! MOLL.

Guest nfp20
we picked a patterdale pup up recent for a friend lovely dog good working stock Have to say I have never thought about terriers sticking to HPRs and Spaniel breeds but I'm researching the breed at the moment with a view to buying one next year for working purposes. I can't keep dogs upsets what I already have so it'll be a bitch though.

Mrs Gaspode 0
As most have said, firm and consistent. Get it out to meet as many dogs as you can and off lead preferably, we take upwards of 18 and more mixed dogs out on our walks with the dog club and it is amazing the difference to the dogs even ones who started out being a bit dog aggressive, they all sort it out amongst themselves. A lurcher is supposed to be another 'hard to train breed' with the obedience lot, my dog is in the advanced class, ok she wouldnt do crufts, not as accurate but if I had wanted near perfection I would have a collie. All dogs can do the whole obedience stuff, just try to remember the breed traits too, obedience is all the same but some dogs have traits you have to work around. with collies you can drum it in day after day hour after hour and they never get bored, try that with a lurcher or terrier and they will be like piss off I did it once thats enough for me Edited October 16, 2007 by Mrs Gaspode

rommel 0
How many Patterdale owners here have found their dog to be aggressive towards other dogs? mine is in no way agressive to other dogs, but he will brook no nonsense. if another dog starts on him then standby for a pasting. you should socialise your dog with other dogs as soon as possible, also with live stock and ferrets, but never leave them alone together
