In all honesty, I couldn't tell you, I never saw them take a buck. They withstood a kicking off of does though.

Not quite the same as a buck  worlds apart

Too true. They are so different its hard to believe they are the same species.

kranky thats exactly what iam saying ,plenty people seen my dogs do it ,and have been doing it for considerable amount of time now atb

Great! I'm a little in awe of your dog training skills. It's no mean feat, breaking a dog to does and youngsters.

Its not about training really. Its about pickin your slips/dumps and never if at all possible let them on a doe. Its the same as I wont dump my dogs on a fox here if the hounds get one up and running. If I see its a fox I will speed up and get the f**k away from that area and let the fox hopefully slip the hounds and or hole up quickly.

If I could have chose to only slip on bucks I probably still would've slipped on does as well. 200 yard slips were the norm and the dogs could make that ground up. Driving around the country looking for bucks to slip on isn't what I do. Maybe I'm lazy, maybe I don't like people who speak with regional accents. I'd rather put some gear in front of my dog than wait for half a dozen slips per year when it all falls in to place. Who hasn't slipped there dog at a solitary buck stood in knee high grass and watched as the dog neared and 8 does stood up from being bedded down at the bucks feet.

If you're only interested in running fallow bucks then that's fine but I used to run any species, they each have their merits. I did run does and make no excuses for it.
