jembo 0
Went to the vets today to get pups last jab and took my 14month old for his booster. The vet commented on my older dogs coat (he is a rough coated Bedlington Grey Whippet) he thought that it seemed very dry and i must admit he has been itching a lot in the last week. I have used frontline so the fleas are not the problem. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?? I feed Vitalin with some fresh veg and warm water (pilchards once or twice a week) with olive oil am and cod liver oil pm feed. I am going to try some evening primrose oil as recommended on the threads on here. The vet thinks this could be a skin allergy and has recommended an allergy test? Has anyone had one done or has it proved conclusive - its £120 !!! Would be very grateful for any advice.
matty 52
my dads lurcher is allergic to grass so its just a pet now!! the test is expensive the treatment is even more expensive, so now she gets human antistimines one hayfever tablet per it helps a little. I personally do not like vitalin dog food maybe try a raw diet but if not i have found burns pet food to be one of the best out there!!
terriermaid 3
i agree with previous thread about vitalin ,my mate uses jameswellbeloved on her bedlingtons ,due to them being itchy, and i find evening primrose usefull as well, you could always strip him ,take out the dry coat Edited June 20, 2007 by terriermaid
jembo 0
I have looked into some of the other dry complete foods, and they all seem to get good and bad reviews. I am going to ditch the vitalin and go for something else for the time being and give fresh meat and veg when i can get it from the butchers! He does seem better today now I have got rid of the pups fleas - makes me think it is a flea allergy.
Pipey Magregor 0
I've noticed abit of dandruff in my pups coat, any ideas what I can use to help this go anyone? It's not a major concern and it isnt a bad case of it, just thought I'd tackle it before / if it does get worse.
