Carraghs Gem 1,675
Well himself came home early from work as he wasnt needed at work today so better late than never we loaded up the 5 stinkers, the caine pup and ruby as I was loading up the gear... What little I have lol I discovered my locator collar was missing... Undetered I went without it armed with just a spade should it be needed We arrived at the old mushroom tunnels... Seems theyve been filled in with rubble... Now resembles a carpark So back into the van and off to the dairy farm Within seconds of arriveing we spotted coney As I dont have a ferret box at moment we grabbed 3 stinkers out of the cage in the back of the van and carryed them down to the area ruby marked out as being inhabited Let the stinkers down and within minutes thump thump thump and a rabbit bolted up the pathway... The dogs shot up the path after it and as caine was nearly in strikeing distance the rabbit dived into a hole and made his escape No sooner than the dogs had returned but another bolted unseen by the dogs on the other side of the hedgerow... we only had 2 of the stinkers back... The big albino hob and one of the kits... There was no sign of the other hob so we left in pursuit of the other buck who had dived in a hole in the middle of a small field... With the 2 stinkers in tow be grabbed the mutts and went after him... As we put the stinkers in the ruby bitch flushed 6 pheasant hens out of the thistles and long grass... Bit of an interesting distraction then before we knew it... Thump thump thump and the buck bolted with the white stinker in hanging off him as it bolted... unfortunately after a short run of about 50yards the buck hit the hedgerow again to safety to caines annoyance... Caine was reluctant to leave the spot where he lost the rabbit so we called him in, picked up the stinkers and went to find the lost stinker... He was glad to see us I think We called it a day... Had a bit of craic but no kills... Not a bad day considering I had no nets and no locator and a puppy in tow, the albino hob is fast becomeing my favourite and ruby has redeemed herself... Will upload pics in a minute Quote Link to post
