Rabbit skin dummies?

Recommended Posts

Just skin a rabbit, peg out the skin on a plank of wood, pour salt on it and rub it in, leave to dry and add more salt if needed. Shoyuld take about 2 weeks tops. Then just wrap it round an old coke bottle or simialr and faste n with elastic bank. You can fill the bottle more as the pup grows to get the weight closer to the weight of a real rabbit

to be honest mate, it dont make any differnce what fur you put on it. My dog Bryn when a pup used a kids toy .When they catch there (1st) live+ kicking rabbit all that dummy training can go out of the window anyway.? To me the recall more important get that 100% , they will bring back rabbits when there ready .

Bird im sure you are in my head!!

The reason for wanting the dummie is this... My pups 8 months and her retive of toys, balls etc is great. BUT!! Her litter brother caught his first rabbit lastnight and after a mile we let her take it and have a little sniff and play. She then proceeded to run loops with the bunny and not come back and not listen. Was a bit of a knock as she had been going so well!

Am i worrying for no reason? I just thought that if i was to get a rabbit skin, it would become less exciting and she may bring the rabbits back to me?

She did comeback on her own in the end (15mins or so)

Thanks

John

true , what it is your prob( both excited) when it getts its 1st - 5th rabbit, the pup can sence it from you as well. Mate just chill with it, if it pisses off with the rabbit it only a rabbit, just carry on with the walk or what ever your doing . ive had pups in the past that feck about with there catch (try to eat, hid it , ) lol and was only me and them there . But all of them when older all brought there rabbits back, time to worry is if they dont want to run a rabbit, that would worry me more

You should try and let your dog grow instead of expecting perfect performance. I feel that you are trying to compensate for your own failings in life by puting extra pressure on your pup. I should imagine that if I gave you a rabbit, a biscuit or a photo of a naked lady you'd run around the field 3 or 4 times. In future catch your own rabbit and don't steal your mates!
