sweater 24
law states, if its on ur own land nothing can be done, if thay were so concerned about there moggys thay would keep them in.... same as cats killing mice. its nature im affraid. i looked into it when my dog retrived one to me :-) if u were slippin the dog on them for fun then u can be done, but if ur dogs off the lead and gets one well thats tough shit on the cat. but if ur dog goes into there garden and screws it then ud b in shit as u should have "control" over ur dog...if my bullx wants a cat theres nothing id do to stop him....i cudnt call my dog back when hes decided hes chasing it. no wonder the dog games naffed .
RossM 8,119
Spoke to a policeman regarding this, he said there's not a lot they can do, providing your seen as making an effort to stop it and you never set the dog on it, happened to me, the owner was pissed off but they understood dogs chase cats, where it happened was along the back of the railway at mine, everyone walks there dogs there
Millet 4,497
Simply break your dog's to them then you have nothing to worry about.. ..then do the right thing and shoot them but only if the farmer want's rid of them..purposely killing someone's pet is stupidity

dytkos 17,800
There are very few cats round where I live so no chance to brealk the dogs to them. Therefore if I think there are any about I ensure my dogs are on a lead. You don't get many bonus points if your on permission and the dogs kill the farm cat in the yard. Cheers, D. Mr Wilkes 2,992
I Believe we should have a curfew on cats (like australia) and any left out after a certain time (sunset)should be delt with accordingly, weve been plauged by a cat for the last 9 months(shitting in anything diggable, catching fledglings from the feeders) untill last week when he was found run over outside our house.... BIGLURKS 874
Don't know if this is 100 % true or not but any cat that is a certain distance away from its home 500 yards away is classed as feral and u are aloud too shoot them on ur permission
Kay 3,709
this is worth a read seems the law changed 16th of this month https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public/overview
RubyTex 1,957
Never really been a fan of cats but I've owned two, one a family pet and the other a ginger kitten I found in a larsen about a year ago who lives in my shed. Does no harm I suppose! Don't see why you'd set dogs on them, trap or shoot if asked by the landowner only.

jasher 55
If you've got problems with ferals taking birds on your land or permission you've been asked to control pests on then do the right thing and trap/shoot them...if your talking about cats that are near dwellings then more likely than not there someone's pet and as for all the talk about if one shit in my garden the dog will have it grow up Ffs no wonder dog lads get a bad name with comments like that on an open forum Edited October 19, 2012 by jasher
