bird 9,861
Looking into getting a kelpie grey pup. What opinions or experiences of this cross? Also photos! get the right border collie, there just as good . The Kelpie was just a strain of border to begin with . anyway. A collie that worked cattle, a tougher type of collie would be just as good as kelpie, as in Oz it was not just kept a sheep dog. Quote Link to post

Guest Leveller
Working kelpies are very popular around here, I'm seeing more and more of them on my rounds. Hopefully they'll stay as proper working dogs on the farms and won't end up like so many window licking Border Collies have living in towns as pets. 1 Quote Link to post

wuyang 513
Was talking to the owner of a pure kelpie the other day, he also owns a border collie, there both used for agility and the like. He was saying the kelpie is a different temp completely to the collie in as such that the kelpie is more get on and do whereas the border tends to wait for commands. I must say his kelpie is the most vocal dog ive ever heard, when he makes them sit and wait in the woods the kelpie never shuts ups. Ive only heard one lurcher owner on here mention the vocal side of his kelpie lurcher so maybe it tends not to be passed on to frequently. Isnt d.sleight trying to breed a full brown colour kelpie lurcher? Quote Link to post
