I don't personally mate as anything could happen when they meet down the hole. They could get on or there could be a big fight and that could potential make them stay down, which obviously means more digging for you. Thats how i think anyway, some won't agree with that and will say its fine, but i don't like to risk it.

P.s is there no way of you letting them get used to each other first or is this just a one off thing. If its going to be a regular thing then i would let them meet on neutral ground and see how they get on.

If ferrets live in a court with other ferrets there's rarely a problem , its when you introduce a fert that's a loner there's probs , if unsure let them have a little sniff on the grass before entering , but yes the more ferts they meet the better for theses situations , But then there's the exception but not a major problem , the old warhorse Jill and usually tends to be a real grafter from experience, , towards the end of the action she wil push the other ferts out and protect her prize below ground till dug , hope this helps ,

I picked up a Jill early this year, I had decided to keep her with my other Jill,on putting them together they fought,

So had to separate.

I thought if I left it till Winter when their Hormones would be settled, I tried again this week, with the same result, serious fighting with strong musk smell.

I dont think these two Jills will ever accept each over.

I have yet to try the two of them in a Warren, so I dont know if they will get on with pushing Rabbits or just fight.

I must have been lucky, as after 48 years of ferreting, I have never had this problem.

I mix my ferrets with other peoples ferrets often particularly when working big spots when we need 8-10 ferrets, and yes you get the odd scuffle and venting off, but generally things work out, if there a particular trouble maker don't use it. ;)

I was thinking on big days you could stick them all in one big court the night before hunting them together but this is not always a option.
