Great rifle and guess what - that Tasco of that vintage is better than the modern Nikko 4x40, stick with what you have and just learn it.

 

What are they like? Mine I bought new in 1985 and I still have it and it still shoots perfectly well. Mine has a Nikko on it! A bentley 4x32 and it works happily at normal ranges.

it very smooth glad i spotted it otherwise id of had a hatsan striker 1000 in .25

im sure its a good rifle just felt cheap.m

This HW77 looks mint, as far as bluing goes at least. What a brilliant bargain!

just a quick question

when i buy a second hand rifle i like to change the seals and i was having a look at ware a breech seal should be but there is a fibre washer ?

is this the right one or should it have a rubber one ?

No idea why there's a fibre one in there.

The part number for the 77 breech seal is BS041

Chambers have them, i buy alot of stuff from them as they keep a huge amount of spares and their service is excellent.

P.S. just pop the old one out with a needle being carefull to not scratch any part of the breech, then push in the new seal. Don't use any grease or oil as it'll cause the gun to diesel.

it should def be a rubber one . just changed my 80s seal its a bit tricky too get it out but it improved the gun heaps . the deal you got is a great one . my old 77 ( wish i never sold it ) was great , got even better when i fitted a v-mach kit in it . just my 2p worth

hi i was wrong about the fibre washer is was infact rubber but it was so old it had changed colour and looked like a fibre washer.

i poped in to see the guy in the shop and he gave me a new seal free of charge so now it's changed .

 

i noticed the head and the otherside of the loading chamber had a load of gunk so iv'e cleaned it witch should make all the diffrence

 

ill be ratting later so will post on how it goes later.m
