tomburras 2,730
Well Iv just given them a quick phone call to check it wasnt duff information. This time I spoke to a different person and was told exactly as Tony has said. It looks like the man who told me this may have had his wires crossed. Thanks for the PM Tom I don't think it was so much as duff info Tom, possibly the original guy was talking about it being easy to reduce the power back to sub12 (which it is) but he neglected to say that it cant be taken off ticket? Thus giving the 'impression' that it could be taken off ticket. Tony Quite possibly or it could have been me having a Rodney Trotter moment. Quote Link to post
salop sniper 32
I had a FAC Rapid MK1 in .22 @ 30ftlb and it was a nightmare from start to finish, leaked, everyon had previously fiddled with it it leaked it felt crude and really put me off. 2 Years later i just bought a FAC .22 @ 30ftlb Daystate Huntsman, I aready had a Daystate so knew the quallity would be there from the start with great customer service and support. I havent regretted it for a second its stunning and really does the job very well with plenty of authority and accuracy running on JSB or AA 16grn pellets. My advice is steer clear of Theobens, I know there popular and easy to work on but they are always being fiddled with and having issues. buy it right, buy it once and buy Daystate and spend your time shooting rather than fixing, repairing, upgrading or mod`ing ! This is just my opinion though ! ATB Matt Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Hmm, iv shot a mk1 on 30ft lb an a mk2 on 30+ an both were nice to shoot, mk1 being slightly heavier, an I know the owner didn't have any probs with his. Quote Link to post

Kentish 0
I vote for Air Arms... because I have two of them... I looked several times at getting a Rapid and didn't because... the only second hand ones available were in a poor state or the asking price of one in good nick was as much as a new one or a new one was going to take forever to come from manufacture and the RFD attitude was that Theoben after sales was rubbish... I bought AA 410 SL Xtra .22 it is as accurate as any, gives 34 shots at full power (32ft lbs) and can be turned down to be used inside buildings etc. My mate has just bought a new 510 Xtra .22 and it performs exactly the same. In short, the AA will do all you need it to and it's a lot cheaper than Daystate... Theoben don't count any more as they are history and those that have them will be wanting too much as they will think they are now more valuable. Quote Link to post

stillair1 16
Most air rifles can be turned to fac, but the buddy bottle rifles excel at 30ftlb+ level. Just make sure it's not been mullered before you get it as it will never run at it's optimimum. Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
Looks like ill have to put the S10 for sale then... and maybe the 97 too depending on how i feel (even though i just bought it) bigger the buddy bottle the more shots..if you get to about 50 shots on a rat shoot or a barn..fffff thats a lot-a -refills. I wont be using it for rats Ghillies, only rabbits and to be honest i havent found a permission yet where ive shot (or even seen) 50 rabbits in one night so it should be plenty. Sorry paulus im not interested in a .20cal but if you get your hands on a .22 i might be interested Thanks Andy and btw you did a great job on Wurz's , very nice to shoot ATB Adam You are missing a trick then. .20 cal Rapid is one of the finest rifles out there, especially at FAC levels. Mine is turned down to 20ft-lbs to get the extra shots out of a fill, but it will happily turn up to 29ft-lbs and put in 8mm groups at 60 yards. From 20 yards to 65 yards there is less than 1/2" rise or fall - this is actually shooting it, not looking at computer program arcs. It does it for real. A friend has one so beautifully tuned (by himself) he can hit a tennis ball every time at 160 yards and it will do sub inch at 100 yards. Not bad for a puffer. I have used .20 almost exclusively now since 1996 and wouldn't use anything else from choice - I think I have given it a good trial. The calibre is so good I have three rifles in the calibre an dam outing everything else except the SLR, which is a .22, but it isn't the calibre that I am keeping it for, it is because it is a great rifle and just happens to be a .22. I think you should give a .20 a go before making up your mind and dismissing it out of hand. .20 cal is the KNOWING man's calibre. 3 Quote Link to post
