AirgunGuy 362
Maybe worth looking at an RWS excalibure? Mines running at 27 ftlb and it is great! The build quality is top notch and im pretty sure it wont depriciate much as there isnt many around. It looks bueatiful - almost like a full bore rifle, shoots as accurate as hell and is my pride and joy. I searched for one in FAC but was unable to find one so baught a sub 12 and had it turned up. it only cost £60 for the upgrade and the putting on cert cost. I picked up a RWS rifle and thought it was similar in a lot of ways to an Air Arms. Are they manufactured by AA? Cheers. Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
They where made by RWS in Sweden with italian made stock. they are solid and simple (no air guage) metal mags and bluing that is indistructable! Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
Fotgot to add its quite old, prob early 90s Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
Ok mate cheers. It must have been a more recent model that i handled. It really did have a lot of similarities to AA Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
The gunsmith i use said if i wanted to take an fac airgun back to sub 12 he could do it no problem. pm if you want his shop details. You can turn it back to sub 12, but IT STAYS FAC and will remain so until it's destruction! If you sell it on, it has to go to someone with a FAC and they must have it listed on ticket, even if it's running at 5ft/lbs you still need an FAC to possess it If you sell it to a non fac holder, you are committing a serious offence Tony Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
Bloming heck! I was told different a few weeks ago by the gunsmith i use who said he could take it off ticket no problem. maybe another regional difference between forces? Quote Link to post

I thought so too Tom when I was trying to get my Ultra turned down, But the Firearms Act clearly states that once it's FAC, it can not be removed from FAC Status even if turned down. There are a couple of rifles that CAN be taken off ticket, smoothbore barreled airguns with a barrel length of 20 something inches (or something like that) or a deac. Tony Quote Link to post

Tony Hi Tony, Iv sent pm just after my last post with the gunsmiths details so you can give them a bell. I agree with you and I even double questioned him about it to be 100% sure i had the right end of the stick, but he was sure it could be done. Give him a bell and hope u get sorted. Daz 7 563
Hi Adam. Congratulations on getting your FAC and welcome to the world of high performance air rifle shooting . Somehow, I didn't think you will be looking at FAC HW80s. Not if you like the deep-throated fire extinguisher look of bottle fed PCPs! (You are indeed quite mad!) So you might as well get the ugliest, ugly stick of all......... THEOBEN RAPID. The main redeeming features are, it's tougher than other PCPs and its accuracy is legendary. Almost as good as a Weihrauch HW80 .22 FAC. Just not that tough! Good news and I hope you enjoy whatever you settle on mate! Best wishes Adam. Simon Edit to add. In answer to your question. I think people rate this rifle above all others for how superbly well it performs. And it cannot be denied, it has a brilliant reputation for precision accuracy combined with tough durability. It tunes to 30 ft/lbs and more and it does it without fuss or drama. If I was a pro pest controller where shooting was an essential part of my job, this is the rifle I would have...along with my HW80 of course! A Rapid Simon May not look like a Pretty boy Huntsman for the Noodle arms Brigade, But if it were a Bloke it would be Daniel Craig not pretty but Rugged  Daz 7 "Forever a Rapid Supporter" 1 Quote Link to post

Thanks for the PM Tom I don't think it was so much as duff info Tom, possibly the original guy was talking about it being easy to reduce the power back to sub12 (which it is) but he neglected to say that it cant be taken off ticket? Thus giving the 'impression' that it could be taken off ticket. Tony Quote Link to post
