pianoman 3,587
Hi Adam. Congratulations on getting your FAC and welcome to the world of high performance air rifle shooting . Somehow, I didn't think you will be looking at FAC HW80s. Not if you like the deep-throated fire extinguisher look of bottle fed PCPs! (You are indeed quite mad!) So you might as well get the ugliest, ugly stick of all......... THEOBEN RAPID. The main redeeming features are, it's tougher than other PCPs and its accuracy is legendary. Almost as good as a Weihrauch HW80 .22 FAC. Just not that tough! Good news and I hope you enjoy whatever you settle on mate! Best wishes Adam. Simon Edit to add. In answer to your question. I think people rate this rifle above all others for how superbly well it performs. And it cannot be denied, it has a brilliant reputation for precision accuracy combined with tough durability. It tunes to 30 ft/lbs and more and it does it without fuss or drama. If I was a pro pest controller where shooting was an essential part of my job, this is the rifle I would have...along with my HW80 of course! Edited October 17, 2012 by pianoman 2 Quote Link to post

robwelsh 354
They do perform that well as fac. And servicing etc is piss, iv owned a rapid for about two an half weeks, an I'm confident to strip ,service an put back together. All rapids are bottle few except for one. They hold value, there's loads of things to do to them..the list is endless..lol 1 Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Oh, and it feels like I could throw it at the floor an still shoot it straight 1 Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Nicely done, Adam I echo the other replies, Rapid all the way. I'm no expert on PCPs but what I do know is they are built to last and perform very well at FAC levels. I've a couple of mates that use them and I've got to say that I've always been impressed as to how well they shoot. Without breaking They are built to last If you fancy a challenge, however, the Diana 52 family can be taken quite happily to a little over 30 (.22) and will still shoot very nicely, thank you. Without the hassle of a PCP. Best of luck, however you choose 2 Quote Link to post

robwelsh 354
Ghillies I don't think many people would use 30ft lb in a barn lol 3 Quote Link to post
AR177 588
Looks like ill have to put the S10 for sale then... and maybe the 97 too depending on how i feel (even though i just bought it) bigger the buddy bottle the more shots..if you get to about 50 shots on a rat shoot or a barn..fffff thats a lot-a -refills. I wont be using it for rats Ghillies, only rabbits and to be honest i havent found a permission yet where ive shot (or even seen) 50 rabbits in one night so it should be plenty. Sorry paulus im not interested in a .20cal but if you get your hands on a .22 i might be interested Thanks Andy and btw you did a great job on Wurz's , very nice to shoot ATB Adam 1 Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
1 other thing with regards to converting the S10 to FAC. Once converted, in the eyes of the law it will always be FAC even if you converted it back to sub 12FPE Quote Link to post

Once converted, in the eyes of the law it will always be FAC even if you converted it back to sub 12FPE Very true, i was aware of it but as i was planning to keep it and use it that didnt really bother me but i think the route im going to take is to sell and buy a rapid ATB Adam Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
Maybe worth looking at an RWS excalibure? Mines running at 27 ftlb and it is great! The build quality is top notch and im pretty sure it wont depriciate much as there isnt many around. It looks bueatiful - almost like a full bore rifle, shoots as accurate as hell and is my pride and joy. I searched for one in FAC but was unable to find one so baught a sub 12 and had it turned up. it only cost £60 for the upgrade and the putting on cert cost. Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
The gunsmith i use said if i wanted to take an fac airgun back to sub 12 he could do it no problem. pm if you want his shop details. Quote Link to post
