Cruel to bring dog inside during day / evening when they sleep outside.

i have mine outside when im at work but when im home he comes inside n sleeps in the kitchen my partner lets him on the bed when im gone and thinks i dont know bless her then she puts him back outside for the day n thats what he is use to

 

also he will cry like mad if the house is to hot n i just put him outside n dont hear a thing after that so if you have done if for a while the dog is more then likey use to it by now so it prob dont bother her as she still gets to come in and see everyone for the evening

We have dog that are in the house when we're there in the evening, and they go to bed in their kennels outside: dogs adapt better to temperature changes than we do, and as long as there is a good bed and no draughts they are happy: I'm sure your bitch is happier spending time inside with you for a while in the evenings rather than being stuck in a kennel all the time. Routine is what counts: once they accept your routine they are happy.

If you feel this way now, wait till the cold really sets in, would you prefer the dog being inside but afraid of the damage, then a crate is the way to go

when ive got a pup i always bring it in the house and play with them in the kitchen but i do think outside is the best place for them that way they can piss and shit when they want

It's the dam puppy dog eyes she gives me when i tell her it's time for bed, that's what made me make this topic. She looks at me like one of those dogs off the adopt a greyhound adverts. I imagine her curled up in a little ball shivering all night Ok maybe not that extreme...

 

Giving me the eyes now... she knows it's nearly time.... She knows...

A dog my dad used to have years ago when he used to leave the kennel open for them one the evening used to come up to the back door (only this one mind ) and kind of tap on the door my dad used to let him in he would run straight into the front room and lay down in front the fire then after a while when he got to hot he went out into the kitchen knock the back door handle down let himself out and go straight into the kennel and in his bed happy as larry or snatch as his name was.

when we were kids me and my brothers would sneak out and bring some of the dogs in because the house was SO COLD and they warmed the beds for us before we put them back out. when it got really bad we would keep them in all night. i'm sure the old man knew really but turned a blind eye to it

Could always buy a heat pad for the bed area, they're just a luxury however they seem to warm the beds up nicely. Set them on a timer to come on at 9, lock the dogs in at half 9/10 ish and the heat pad turns off at 2am so it sufficiently warms the kennel without overkill.

 

My two are always in the house in the day/evenings depending on if people are in, mention the word "bed" and they run to the back door to be put away

Mine run in bed as I always feed mine late at night so they go bed on a full belly so going to bed is a reward and associate it with something good

Mine are out all day and sleep in the kitchen at night, when i'm home from work i let them in and they follow me around and lay at my feet when i'm watchin telly

cant see a problem in giving the dog warm now and then, cant hurt, but lots of dogs sleep outside and as long as everythink is done right to keep them as warm as possible then ok with that, what would say is to much heat can make them hate going out when cold, end of the day just use your brain and do whats right.

Kennel jackets are great for running dogs, as they don't carry much fat. Try putting your hand under the coat when your dog is wearing it and feel how warm it feels.

Funny you should say that when i was young i remember standing at the Greyhound racing and on a cold winter night sticking my hands under the dogs bollocks to keep warm............
