stubby 175
I can rememmber ordering a net kit as a youngster, which allowed you to make nets alot easier than that, probably not the way to go, but it was so easy, you hung the ring on a hook, then added 20 or so lengths of hemp line hanging from the ring, and then basically platted them together, simular to what girls do with their hair Quote Link to post
ferret15 0
as a child we used to make haynets for the horses out of bailer twine its never occurd to me that the nets i use for rabbiting are made the same way as in the link above we used to do it freehand no messures or neadles all we did was tie some string in a circle then the rest was the same dose any one know of any reason not to use bailer twine for this as i have been wondering what to do with all mine just had another thought is there any reason you couldnt buy cheep haylege nets £2 and remove bottom ring add a second draw string and hay presto !! this might be a stupid idea judt putting it out there Quote Link to post

borderboy 80
heres a couple of clips showing how i do it... there not very clear, its difficult making videos on your phone without any spare hands lol .... I hope they help and clear it up a bit.... I have also taken a couple of pictures which may help clear it up a bit.... create a loop around the mesh board passing the needle through the rear of the existing mesh, and pull it taught... create a loop and pass the needle between the the mesh and through the loop... to double knot it repeat the previous step, but pass the needle through the mesh... I'll probably have a bundle of about 30 spun nylon/polyester nets for sale cheapish in a few weeks... if anyones after any just ask and i'll see if i can make them up for you... ASME IX 1
i havnt made nets for about 5yrs,i once made a100yd long net,it took me f**kin ages,it was all over the floor in mi parents living room, lol, got sick of taking the skin of my little finger as i tightend the knots and after it was completed a pup i had at the time decided to see how many holes it could chew in it:( Quote Link to post
maty j 6
theres a good book that i learnt from, net making for sport by howard glyn or some thing like that. check out coch y bonddu books sure they'll have it on there, or the bay. anyway, stubby ive got them instructions here somwere on how to do that. i made them like that first off but they were shit. only looped onto the ring so slipped a hell of a lot and looked right shabby, so then i moved onto the needle method. couldnt follow them instruction off the web addy mentioned so thatst when i got the book. ill scan them instructions on if i get a chance, if they'll be of any use to anyone. took longer to make them like that aswell but it was easyer.
