BOLTING TO THE DOGS

Had a run up north today with vin , the idea was to just bolt some for the dogs, the first warren we did the first 3 escaped,, 2through a game hole in a wall , and another through a collapsed part of a wall in the other direction.. But eventually the dogs got there eye in so to speak , and started adding them o the bag. We eventually took 8 out of this warren ,, with loosing a further 1 more.

 

Next we did one or two play type holes in the middle off the fields,,, not very productive but a few more were added, so back to the banking and over the wall,,, now this bank is very very steep ,, but luckily the rabbits tend to run along it,, or up it,,, and what sport we had in the last hour or so.

 

If I rember right out of the 3 warrens we ferreted on there only one rabbit escaped,, no nets just moving quik from set to set,, if only we had more time to do it,,, next week maybe, we ended up taking a further 15 more. From these warrens making a total of 23' not a huge score,, but we packed up at 1,30 but the sport was terrific. big thanks to vin for his taxi'ing service..

What a great day for the dogs today..they had great fun catching the bolters.. some cracking catches from Venus,and some terrible muggings from my very ill mannered bitch Molly.. She did the usual mugged Venus of her catch then dropped it to chase another and it ran down the hole..plus they missed the one that she set off after,Very frustrating to watch..lol. but she did make up for her sins with a few very good catches and a great whack a mole type popper which practically jumped into her mouth..lol

The steep banking we ended up doing last off was the best bit..the dogs were really pushing hard to catch them as they went up the banking,but the view was spectacular watching them stretching out their necks trying to nab the bunnies..really good sport . The ferrets worked well apart from 1 little hicup when they came up against a big old buck that didnt want to evcuate..We had to send tomos hob in from behind to sort him out..it took a while but we had him in the end.

 

We also mugged a stoat.
