terryd 8,466
she is not stupid knows when to run and when not clever Yea but its annoying as f.ck when you have a rabbit sat miles from its burrow and the dog trots after it Perhaps the dog is tip toeing so its quieter. One of my dogs used too do that until it thought it was time too charge but I guess quite a few do. It was nice too see the dog really thinking about it Quote Link to post

ftm 3,357
i would only get rid if bunnies is your main quarry -billy Quote Link to post
colliexgreyhound 119
i owned a 1st x collie greyhound that was prolific on bunnies then i introduced it to teeth and bamby and it changed in a heart beat would only chase bunnies that it knew it had a chance of catching -now on the other hand it would run its socks off to make contact with teeth &bamby i nearly got rid of him but i m glad i didnt as he was a great fox &deer dog i actually used a pure collie for lamping a fewbunnies and he never developed the [brain trait] your dogwill never grow out of it so use it for the things it likes to give 100% to hope this makes a bit of sense-billy Thats what i think happened to her i bought her 2 years ago and she was never tryed on anything other than rabbits. She then was tryed on foxes with me and was great so i think rabbits are too boring for her now lol Quote Link to post

ftm 3,357
keep her mate and like has been said get yourself a little bunny dog ps your bitch will still be ok to take ferreting etc as collie crosses are great at marking i used mine for marking foxes for terrier lads-good luck -billy Quote Link to post
WILF 46,956
I'd say it sounds like you have ran her to hard or u have given her to many slips she had no chance off catching I did the very same thing to my dog thoroughly stupidity and by knowing any better just treat it like your starting a pup off from scratch only squatters and rabbits on the middle off fields until she is getting 3 out of 5 that should build her confidence then only slips within reason She was 100% last season. Then i took her out lamping for the first time this season and shes not putting much effort in Had the dog checked at a vet to make sure it's all in good health?......sounds very odd if its just come on the dog at 4?', I'd be looking for an injury or an illness Jmho 2 Quote Link to post

ftm 3,357
this is why people stay clear of 1st cross collie gh mate it doesnt happen in any other crosses i just got over it and like i said done other stuff and mine was still going strong at ten yrs old then his liking of moggies was his downfall [road casualty] Quote Link to post
colliexgreyhound 119
how could she be doing it from injury if she put 110% into running rabbits on the last night of the season and never run another rabbit for 6 months. Then ran half hearted on her first slip of this season. Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
Is she fit.A dog could injure herself running in the park.If she hasnt seen a rabbit since last season she wouldnt be that fit. 2 Quote Link to post
