Damp/Wet in sleeping box

Recommended Posts

Just checked my ferrets sleeping box and there is abit of water on the roof and the sides. Have recently re-felted the roof due to this being a problem a few weeks ago and thought i had solved the problem. The felt runs around both the top, back and sides and has no cracks for the water to get in. What i think it is, is the heat from the ferrets, condensing at the top of the cage and hence the water. The cage gets covered with a piece of taurpaulin when its chucking it down with rain and currently there is a layer of wood shavings and mixed t-shirts and shredded paper as bedding. So, any ideas on how to get rid of this and too stop it happening.

this is poor ventilation you need to allow a decent amount of air flow just like your bedroom windows in the morning . putting the tarp over just makes it worse it will trap the moisture in but it will stop the stinkers from getting soaked . the human body expels anything up to 2 litres of fluids a night when we sleep , atb dr sam :haha:

Ok cheers lads, thought it would just be condensation like. Will drill a few holes in the nest box front and side. Will limit the amount of time the tarp is on, but at the min with this weather its a bit hard, otherwise all the bedding and shavings just get soaked
