walshie 2,804
Can anyone give me a definitive answer please? Is all .22lr ammo with a hollow point classed as expanding? Quote Link to post
paulus 26
i may be wrong but i thought any round with a hollow point would be classed as expanding as thats surely the reason for it having a hollow point Quote Link to post
The one 8,463
Thought the point of hollow point was it mushroomed when it hit so it should be expanding Quote Link to post
kenny14 656
Though some target ammunition is hollow point, I think they'd still be classed as expanding because the cavity would cause them to expand Quote Link to post
tegater 789
I think all .22 LR is classed as expanding, yes. There are however some match bullets, such as sierra matchking, that are hollow point by manufacturing process, but not by design, and therefore not classed as expanding. Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
Cheers for the replies lads, but as you can see every reply has "thought or "think" in it. I think they are too, but someone I know has argued otherwise. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
Can anyone give me a definitive answer please? Is all .22lr ammo with a hollow point classed as expanding? Simple fact is, as with some CF ammo, they are still expanding whatever you want to call them but some can be bought on a FAC with NO expanding condition because they are called Match rounds! So what comes into debate is your definition of the word CLASSED! Quote Link to post

Fair enough but it didn't read that way to me, when I see ALL, I see ALL! "I think all .22 LR is classed as expanding, yes" Quote Link to post
