Builders - More Questions About New Kennel Block!

Recommended Posts

4" blocks will be porous, but still use them. What I would do is belt and braces but you could do some of this yourself.

Get the brickie to build it as you want it, ask him to joint it internaly and flush it up externaly.

Then when he has finished get some SBR, mix it in a bucket with cement and a few handfulls of sand and make up a thick emulsion slurry, paint it one way and then the other, then apply two coats of render. Both with the waterproof additive, then when fully dry paint with the piolite masonry paint, Leyland, or other trade paint.Internally paint it with a water based masonry paint, then any moisture in the block can evaporate through.

Allow one to one and half days for the brick layer and two half days for the plasterer.

you should be paying around £100 a day maybe a little bit more for a good one.

4" block work pointed right then painted will be fine no need to render. And there are loads of single skin garage's.

It might take more than a day, as there is a limit to how high they can build in one day, as the weight of the bricks pushes out the wet cement at the bottom. Again get a builder to give you a price.

OK

GOOD SHOUT LOAF but the slurry tend to crack if you dont used silaca sand and you dont really need it sbr on its own will do as as a bonding bridge , then make sure you add it to the water and not direct to the mix as many do , allso let the render fully cure before over coating if your coating make sure its a water permiable product , the older systems arnt , go on the internet ORION PAINTS sell some good product that will tick all the boxes, ive used a siloxane but that was left over from a job
