FENN 24 Posted November 3, 2012 Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 HI i have cage traps set every day due to the amount of poultry we keep .What i have found is if you soak some of the food that the rats are eating normaly and put this in the trap it seems to work well i think this is due to the rat being used to the bait in the trap .Also we use the solid fat (dripping ) you find in the grill pan on your cooker after cooking bacon or chops put this in the cage and the results are very good and quick .The only trouble is getting this dripping often enough . . 1 Quote Link to post

rogue with a running dog 22 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Share Posted November 8, 2012 set a drop trap bury a 50 gallon drum and cut a rectangle out of the topand then make it so there is a turn style put a piece of pipe over it so they cant miss the turn style when going through when they tread on it they drop in very effective on rabbits dont know about with rats worth a try though catch big numbers of rabbits Quote Link to post
JohnGalway 1,043 Posted November 12, 2012 Report Share Posted November 12, 2012 Peanut butter does work, I've caught two rats over the past two nights in a mink cage in me shed. I thought I may have had a mouse initially so I set a snap trap which the rat triggered, the funny thing is he went back into the cage for more peanut butter afterwards, you'd think he'd have copped it.
