If the dog was his daughters and he was looking after it for her while she was away furthering her education and trying to better herself, he had no bloody right to give it away unless she gave him her express permission too. He's not much of a father if he couldn't be arsed looking after it for her.. On the other hand, the dog sounds settled now and if the girl ain't going to be at home it don't sound like the dog is going to be wanted back where it came from..
