dogs cut his stopper pad

Recommended Posts

Hi all just after abit of advise to make sure Iv coverd everything, went out on the bike with the dog this morning everything normal, got home and noticed blood on the floor, checked the dog over and found a small nick in his stopper pad on his rear leg

Checked for glass etc and cleaned with anti bacterial wipes out my first aid kit

Has now stopped bleeding and he don't seem to be bothered, not limping or licking it or anything, I was thinking lead walks for at least a week and no bike work for at least 3 weeks

Am I doing everything right, any advice welcome

If its a wide open cut it will take ages to heal as pads spring apart when cut. Getting a vet to stitch is best as the tissue that fills in the gap will just be soft normal tissue and will be prone to injury. Will take more than a week to heal, a month is more likely but as said above my break open when pressure/tension applied.....

I thought it was called a stopper pad, well just his pad on his back leg, it's not wide at all iv been checking and keeping it clean, no more bleeding since if it was I would have gone to the vets straight away, looks like its healing well, I'll give it 4 weeks lead walk to be on the safe side

Thanks for the replies
