A Call to Boycott WHSmiths

Recommended Posts

Yes I see your point. But its all just getting to me, first the ban on dogs ,well fox hunting, but since then there's been so many Dick heads doing it just because its cool an illegal. Then the royal mail on posting parts for guns being banned, now this. Their just making the percentage of people who enjoy their hobbies into criminals and if it takes being a criminal to enjoy what I do, I'm on the verge of accepting the fact. I used to be a right cock before I got back into dogs n guns. Lol so really I'm swaying to the attitude of what I used to have "il do what I want, when I want" because now being a legally binding citizenit dont get you very far lol

The point is Rob,

It is an infringement on the Shooters Right's.

Just another step on the ladder to the removal of shooting sports from the UK

The Anti's scream the loudest dont they? They get what they want.

LACS are sucking Dick of WHS, maybe they think that by restricting the youngsters they wont become shooters because at 14 they'll be too busy chasing girls and boys or they will be more into xbox rather than out there with a real gun.

We need to make ourselves heard instead of cowering in the corner or having the "I dont give a feck" attitude.

The gun mags were an integral part of me growing up, far more interesting to read than a boring old math or french book in lessons. But the point is if it were not for the mags available to me back then I would probably not be the shooter I am today.

Tony

Lol tony, what type of shooter are you today?

It bothers me not about this age restriction, those that shoot probably do so because of their old man or relative who can buy them for them. The Internet is a much more powerful medium than comics and judging by today's youth they will be on the net researching guns and watching the likes of Si putting smalls bits of lead into live quarry!

There are far more important things going on in life to worry about an age restriction!

Good luck with your mission though.

Mawders I am a shooter.

If I hadn't had the mags as a youngster I wouldnt be a shooter.

As for the internet, they've already classified Davy's vids as 18+. It wont be long before any UK video showing an animal being shot or even a gun will be the same or banned full stop because the anti's keep squealing louder and louder.

Write a polite letter to the Chief Exec of WH Smith then - NOT email, pick up a pen and write a proper letter, put a stamp on it and pos it in the collection box. I am going to post mine tomorrow. The stamp is already on it. Yes, I have signed the petition, but these are so easy to manipulate they carry little or no weight - a weighty mailbag through the door carries a much stronger message. Ask for a written reply at the end of your polite letter - do not become abusive, it negates the power of the written letter and will be discounted if you become abusive. State your reasons succinctly and it will make a huge impact. A section of what I have written is given below, in red:

As someone who has suffered at the hands of the animal rights movement directly, when our house was set alight when petrol was poured through the letterbox and set alight whilst we slept and our 1 year old son was asleep in his cot in the next bedroom, plus the total destruction of our car the same night through arson, I am horrified that one of the great names of the British high street has decided to align themselves with these lawless terrorists. The shooting and country sports fraternity are amongst the most law abiding people in the country. WH Smith has decided to implement policy influenced by a group which is populated by people who are prepared to commit serious crime in order to force their flawed arguments upon the population.

I can see management having a sudden dawning of realisation once the enormity of the situation is presented to them. The number of under 14s who buy shooting magazines can probably be counted on the fingers of a couple of hands, but that is not the point. The senior management of one of the big companies in this country should not be allowed to be swayed by lawless terror tactics. They should be made to MAN UP, instead of capitulating to pressure from an organisation that is on the terrorist list.

Brilliant. But I haven't been attacked by any antis? Anyone I know who don't like the thought of killing stuff, Idont bring up infront of them. Just respect their decision. Iv yet to meet a proper anti hunt prick. Wouldn'tmind hearing their views mind, and then setting them straight. Because most have cotton wool over eyes an don't live in the real world.

Setting the age limit on YouTube to 18 doesn't mean people who are not 18 in real life can't watch them, fake DOB's for the win!

I should imagine they are doing it to not side with anti hunt people but to stop those youths that are buying the mags with mental health issues and not telling their parents and ending up becoming obsessed with guns, finding one and going on a ASB or worse spree!

Hey ho. Another law another day!

Surprising what happens over time... :whistling: WHSmiths, many years ago banned sporting dog periodicles from their shelves, you shooters buried your heads, the BASC buried its head, with an "I'm all right Jack" attitude... :hmm: The fishermen will be next... :bye:

Too right Bosun. We're all on the tip of the iceberg: trouble is, the rest of the iceberg has already dissolved and the hunters we are and see today are probably the last of a fast disappearing generation. Fast forward 100 years and everyone will be living in Disneyland.

This is very true. The lack of solidarity is worrying but I guess people think that by not making a fuss they will not be noticed.

Fishermen will no doubt feel this one day after the rest of the country sports have been destroyed.

I agree however it appears so many think that we are winning this battle against the anti's.
