Whizzie 38
& shot sweet FA! The only 2 shots fired were checking my zero @ the start of the job. I only saw one small rabbit, too small to take, so left for a fatter day & then i got eyes on a squizzer, from about 100yds, but nowhere to be seen when i stalked in. Tons of bloody hares everywhere, but they're not to be taken on this permission. Just the way it goes sometimes. So just a superb day out, in glorious countryside! 1 Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Only 5 hours without quarry I can often spend a day laid up over a set of active warrens and dont see sod all. I'm sure they hear the noise of the cemetery gate and my footprints when I enter, followed up by a few zeroing shots then its "Eyeup lads n lasses, best stay down till he fecks off again!" Go there to visit the family graves though without a gun and they are more than happy to play or sun themselves in full view of me. Pesky wabbits Tony 1 Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Whizzie, Do you Stalk or Snipe? I like to snipe over warrens when I get chance (obviously nice during the summer, not so nice in winter brrrr....) Tony Quote Link to post
Whizzie 38
Both mate. It's a big area, so I have a dander round the usual hot spots to see what's occurring. In one part there's a lovely split recently planted woodland. I had a great time in there from January through April, but then the wild grasses n nettles became too long & you can't see the warrens, I was back there over the weekend, and although in most of it that's still the case, under the trees, the grasses are thinner & it's good to sit n snipe again. Nothing happening in the paddocks again, but now the wheats in & field re drilled for next year, I could see where the Rabbits have been busy, while they were un disturbed, so those are the areas to work on at the mo, as well as the coppice close to the landowners home & along side the paddocks, where he wants the squizzers thinned out. Happy days! Quote Link to post
