davedavedave 69
I have air arms S510 with a walnut stock which I did not want to drill so make a handy set of shooting sticks for a few quid - see pic. The sticks and foam came from B&Q whilst the rubber was an old inner tube. I shot 3 squirrels today using them so they work a treat Quote Link to post

splitcane 5
Have a look at the Atlas bipod ( http://www.tacfiresystems.co.uk/store/rifle-accessories/bipods/accu-shot-atlas-v8-lw17-bipod/ ). Be warned before you do that it looks very, very expensive when compared with the Harris. However, having just bought one to go with my S510, I think it's well worth it. It's beautifully engineered and - I think - much more elegant and in keeping with the S410 than the Harris. No springs, slim profile, lighter. It's also much more versatile. It does everything the Harris does - panning +/-15 degrees, cant/tilt the same - for instance, but the legs can be moved and locked independently in six positions forward or back, the quick release fitting makes fitting or removing a matter of seconds (removal takes a second at most, and even though I'm only just getting used to it, fitting takes me less than 10), so you can carry it in a pocket until you need it, so if you're stalking a hedgerow you you don't have the weight on the gun, but if you then want to stake out a warren, on it goes. If with a Harris you find yourself needing a wider range of lengths than it can reach, you'd need to buy another one (whether shorter or longer). With the Atlas, you can either change the angle of the legs to make the bipod shorter, or for a longer one, buy a pair of the 4 inch leg extensions. There's no limit to the number of extensions you can fit. Disadvantages - well obviously there's the price (although if you think you'll ever need the equivalent to two or more Harrises, that evens out); everything is manual (no sprung legs, push button to release the leg lock for repositioning or deployment); and the fact that you need either an adaptor to to turn attach a picatinny rail to an existing QD stud, (which costs another £20 and means you can't use bipod and sling simultaneously) or else have a 2 inch length of Picatinny rail - another £25 plus fitting - fitted to the fore-end, which is what I've done. I've no connection with the company, by the way, or the UK distributor (whose customer service is superb, by the way). No commercial interest in this at all. Just a very happy customer. The engineering by itself is a real joy. Quote Link to post
steve_7 10
Hi, i never used a bipod before so went for a cheap one of the bay just to see if i like it, was only about 25 quid and seemed pretty well built but after a few outings i found a few niggles, one was that when i had the legs up the spring catch hit the stock and legs flapped about in the wind making a noise and also it feels like its working loose..... the other things is i got a 6-9 fixed and now would like the next size up and swivel...... i cant complain for the price as its a learning curve for me but once funds allow il be buying a better made branded version..... all the best steve 1 Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
A Harris 9-13 is usually all the bipod you will ever need! Quote Link to post
