socks 32,253
With the government backing the people that get burgled and stating that you can use whatever force you deem necessary to protect your home family and possessions would this then extend to your whole property including your garden ? And would this further extend to your dogs which are technically your property ? If so then I think dog thefts would take a dramatic fall if they knew they could be on the wrong end of a shotgun or rifle .............
JohnGalway 1,043
I reckon you're right. But, I wouldn't like to be the one up in front of the judge testing the theory out

scothunter 12,609
Just a thought, after that lad getting the jail for saying something. I hope the lads who post these threads and talking of blasting burglars with shotguns and rifles don't actually own guns.
moxy 617
Grey area. There was some toff bird interviewed on the radio saying that the amount of householders who use what force they see nessecary to protect their property, sometimes a little excessive, who DONT get prosecuted is massive. Her opinion was that the laws didnt need to be relaxed due to this statistic. Its the media that blows everything out of proportion and puts it in the public spotlight, "they love a good shooting"! In our current anti gun state (which is only getting worse) the use of a firearm would still be deemed as excessive, BUT it would all come down to circumstance. I cant see it too long before a few thieves are shot/mamed/buggered whatever and the anti gun/human rights fuckwits try and force a u-turn.
Nik_B 3,790
Yes they dont get prosecuted but they often are arrested and detained for some time even when it is obvious what happened.
WILF 47,453
Nice thought Socks but I reckon unless they are in your house and a threat to yours or your family's imidiate safety then you would be doing 25 behind the door mate

Possibly so, however thats a little price and inconvenience to pay to reap some retribution. Thats the society we live in. What about the scum that gets away unscaved?
