honeypig 0
I've never been long netting before and want to have a go. I've seen the nets for sale and don't know if there good'uns or not. Any advice on sources of info, decent kit, experienced advice etc etc would be appreciated. Many thanks, Will Quote Link to post
mole catcher 1
As with most things within fieldsports it is best if you can find someone willing to take you out and show you the ropes. Sadly the real world isnt like that and most bigginers to any aspect of the sport find it hard to find decent info on any given subject. Now im going to put my neck on the chopping block and suggest you try and get hold of a copy of Brian Brindeds video on long netting as this will show you the basic methods of both the traditional and quick set methods. IM NOT GOING TO GET INVOLVED IN THE DEBATE ABOUT THE MAN HIMSELF OR THE WAY IN WHICH HE CONDUCTS HIS BUSINESS, but i stand by what i have just said, to any novice this will put you on your way to gaining knowledge of this fine art Im sure the more folk you talk to on this site the more info you will get and the sooner you will have enough knowledge of your own to decide what of the two methods will suit you. andy mecca 5
like MC says gain as much knowledge as you can because a lot of people get frustrated and there must be thousands of yards of net hanging up all over the u.k. when people have given up. another dvd to watch is one from glenn waters and there is also a book "the art of longnetting" by harold wyman an excellent read and packed with information to help you out. if you do purchase a net just practice setting it on a playing field until you feel comfortable before trying it out for real and expect some blanks or poor drops as decent nights are few and far between but dont give up as this is an extremely useful method of clearing rabbits. i hope there might be someone near you who could get you started all the best andy Quote Link to post
