Midnite 9
I see this an old post but i'd like to say i Bought my HW77 with cs800 custom stock in 1987, i still have the owners manual but sadly not the original stock. Yeah its heavy but it shoots well, is accurate and has never let me down or had a problem. It looks like new and would put some newer guns to shame i'm sure. It hasn't been fired for some time until a few weeks ago and was bang on accurate out of the slip as when it was last out. I'm treating it to a tune right now and hope to have it back next weekend. Next up will be a nice Hawke scope i think and id sure like one of those SR12 or SR Pro reticles if you can still get them? Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
They've stopped making the sr12 now mate, and at 250 notes plus, the sr pro is an expensive scope (although very good, it has to be said) if your budget doesn't stretch that far the panorama range with the half mil dot reticle is definitely worth checking out. I've recently had to replace my old sr12 and am using the 4-12x40 panorama with great results on my pro sport and , both in .22. Quote Link to post

Could get better and more reliable glass for that. Think I may stretch to £110 for the hawke varmint 3-10x44 sf and that's a gamble if you were ever to drop it well you f****d Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Get the MAP reticle then, opens up a wider choice! Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Hawke Panorama 4-12x50 EV IR AO is the best I've had from Hawke yet. Works superbly with my HW97K. Cost me £130 from Red Beck shooting supplies. Just as a matter of interest on scopes and prices. I bought an old, 2nd hand Nikko Stirling Silver Crown 4x40 scope for a princely tenner at Red Beck on Friday. Gloss finish, nice condition. fixed 4x mag, 30/30 reticle. 'Might be decent, might be shit' I thought. As Nikko always had a decent rep for standing up to harsh recoil, I put it on my FAC HW80 .22 yesterday and, prepared to see it smashed by the hefty recoil that 21.+ foot pounds deals out. It zeroed at 30 metres and stayed put all day putting pellet on pellet without a hitch or a click off-zero. Last night I bagged two rabbits and a Squirrel. This morning at dawn it nailed four rabbits and two woodpigeon without needing a click of the turrets to re-centre the zero. Best ten quid I've spent on shooting all year yet! 1 Quote Link to post
blackscale 9
The Digi night eye is mean't to be good as well! Hawke aren't the 'cheap' scopes they used to be and the glass is superb in my experience...the panorama isn't expensive and great glass! Quote Link to post
targa 5
How about the hw97, isnt it à modern reworked 77? not really, let 's say it is the Hft version and its heavyer and much more front heavy as a 77. Quote Link to post
