Giro 2,648
Yeah I agree with that Chart however you would hope the one that was worked would be tested to the full and if it never really done anything that great,it would not be bred from.. To many clowns breeding because dogs are from "good lines" .. Dogs are a lottery Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
is a potential sire / stud dog proven if he catches a thousand rabbits a season or if he produces good workers? Quote Link to post
chartpolski 24,296
is a potential sire / stud dog proven if he catches a thousand rabbits a season or if he produces good workers? A Sire/Stud can't be "potential", if it is producing good woorkers. Surely it would then be "proven" ? Cheers. Quote Link to post
Guest bigdaddylongchopper
If you have two dogs from the same litter, one owned and worked hard, and the other owned and kept as a pet; which one will be the better Sire, or will they both throw the same ? Same with bitches; two from the same litter; one worked hard and bred from only after 4 or 5 seasons of graft; and one kept purely as a brood bitch. Which will throw the best pups, or will they throw the same ? Cheers. its all in the blood imho, but i have bred some of my best animals, from dogs carring the same blood but one wasnt as good as the other in the field,if that makes sense. 1 Quote Link to post

chartpolski 24,296
Yeah, Bob, it's a difficult one. If two litter brothers were both scratch dogs, but one was slightly faster than the other, of course I'd use the fastest one as a stud. But would the slower one throw just as good pups as the faster one ? I remember Red Baron and Warlord, ( Bilko x Young Lucy), litter brothers, both tremendous scratch dogs, but Red Baron was the fastest, and got the most bitches by far !! Would Warlords pups have been as good ? Hard to tell. Cheers. Quote Link to post
