First Day Ferreting The Dales

Had a day up the dales today with vin, the first warren by a wall, no nets on first one out and cought by venus,, as the dogs chased this, two others bolted out and over the wall.

 

Next warren , wrapped the long net round it , and quickly accounted for 3, next warren just a few yards away ,, same procedure although a bigger warren wich took up 90 yard of the long net wrapped round it,, this warren had 5 bolts wich were secured by the net,, but then we had a dig only 2 foot or so through some shale and big old rocks,, but it produced well with 3 being stuck up there with vins little Jill hemming them in.

 

Next was a little warren ,, and not a lot to say about this one ,, 3 quick bolts,, one being a half grown youngster,, wich was released.

 

Then came the big bank,, it's about 100 yard in length about 45 degree ,, so I criss crossed this with a 100 yarder a 50 yarder and a 20 yard stop net ,, doted a few purse nets about,,, mainly on the holes in wall,,, this big old place was to take us the rest of the day,, with 7 ferrets running around the network of tunnels , starting one end and trying to do it in sections,,, some good catches by the dogs on here,, and some good maks not just befor the ferreting but telling us where rabbits were just sitting in entrances ,, or where ones about to bolt from.

 

We had a few digs on here, one producing a couple of bunnys, but easy digging of around 2 foot , so no dramas... we eventually finished on here accounting for 25, making the days total a respectable 40,

 

An absolutely cracking day , with no rain bright sky's and even a peregrine falcon making an appearance wich I tried to film on my compact camera,,

 

Big thanks to vin who yet again has gone out his way to come and fetch me,,,

just by seeing them pic,s made me laugh tomo can mind we were out electric fence running along a warren we done asked the cousin to dive over and net the other side you no what happened lol what a laugh it was so much for being silent lol
