gnasher16 30,118
Think most of us if we,d heard him say it in a pub would give him a clip round the ear.....maybe even a punch on the hooter if you was his age.................but prison cor slow down !..............................................so how does that work then....had he said it in a pub someone could of made a citizens arrest and got him done that way ?...............surely you cant have one rule on the www that dont apply in the real world. The one 8,477
Seems a bit over the top when you have so called comedians like franky boyle saying it on the telly.
scothunter 12,609
Free speech was never unconditional, but now it's just went mental. That's the web for you though. Billions of people use it in some form or other, yes words can be harmfull especially towards kids who seem to live thier social lives on Facebook. However some folk need to differentiate between bullying and gallow humour. Don't know what the lad said , but barring he didn't personally email it to the family he should never be sent to prison for it. Unlike gnasher I wouldn't have gave him a clip, but I wouldn't fault any man for doing so. I've laughed at and told prob far worse than this lad wrote on some site.
Malt 379
Just reading that article, it says 50 people turned up at his address after he posted whatever he posted.. Maybe him getting sent to jail was for his own protection..
scothunter 12,609
Don't know which is worse! Him getting sent to jail for something he said , or the fifty folk wanting to do him damage for saying it.
Whizzie 38
It kind of strikes a chord with the Sheffield student, who urinated on the citys senotaph & the Poppy's placed there. He went down for it. I have to say, i'm not very sympathetic to either case. Whether jailing em is the best public interest? It's a huge cost to the public purse, where as a whopping fine, would see them paying, as well as paying, if you get my drift. Whizzie

But is it a jailing offence ?. If it is then by my reckoning the jails should be full.
