bell 3,601
After feeding 3 sacks of grain and counting the ducks coming in we shot last night. As usual, and like clockwork, the first to move were the gulls....great long lines of them. Then came the crows, all heading for roost, one of them and a pigeon hit the flood as i couldnt resist. Then came the geese, canadas and greylags, not heading for this stubble but somewhere else. I called a few of the packs and one lot of 4 came close enough and although one shuddered to my shot it kept going..... A short pause and then it was ducktime. I havnt seen that many duck for a long time, they were everwhere, many in the air at onetime and we both shot a few left and rights. they were all mallard which was strange as this area has given us teal and wigeon before. We took probably 20 which was enough, and didnt bother feeding again as the farmer had cut a big drainage channel to empty the field
