Advice for buying a pup

Recommended Posts

I've seen a couple with full tails on the shoot, it's no bother until they get cut/damaged....seen a few cut to bits but saying that my dog is supposedly docked but his tail is still about 3/4 long and has never injured it...luck of the draw :victory:

Hoping to get my first working springer in the next few weeks just wondering if there are many dogs being worked with full tails just looking for some feedback.

hi mate i have just had a litter of ten off a working mum and dad who both had there tails docked they are better with them docked as ruby said they are easyer to get rips and bad cut if they have a tail and me personaly think they look unsightly but thats the preference, any way if your looking for a decent pup give us a pm i have one bitch and four dogs left, the mother is very small and dad not huge so they will be quite small i reckon, both parents are pedigree but have no papers, i dont think that matters the mother is the best working dog i have had and she cost me £200,, these allm have docked tails and have cirtificate with each pup to prove its been done legaly, im just asking £250 each for them they been flying out at that price and i dont think you would get them any cheeper unless you come accross some one selling just get rid these will be good pups just need your 10% the rest is in them, regards mal

It can be quite an horrendous sight to see a working Spaniel with an injury to the tip of it's tail. Because of the furious wagging of the tail, the blood gets spread over both flanks and after a short time it looks as if butchery has taken place. Some individual's are more prone to damage than others but the correct amount of tail to dock from a Spaniel is to not remove more than a third from it's original length.
