Man made house ch4

Recommended Posts

Yeah, but a shed?! on wheels? Someone knows how to steer clear of planning eh! I suppose 'Man Made Shed' doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

McCloud claimed to have bought the land for the price of a second hand car i'm told. I'm sceptical on that due to what is termed 'pony paddock syndrome'. He possibly either got 'mates rates' or sold it to himself!

The programs is a good escape for many I suppose. I have only watched only part of one episode though so cannot really judge.

This is the first one I have watched. I will probably catch up in them. Yea I'd be sceptical Aswell. If it was that easy to set up, more people would be leaving the rat race and heading for the hills. More so in the current financial climate.

I've seen those sites selling woodland for 10 grand upwards, but no structures to built on it. I fail to see the lure to buy such a thing really.

Often the sporting rights are also retained.

My family looked into some land to get into the countryside (saying that we're a stones throw from it anyway!), quoted just under £30k for 17.85 acres of woodland....no planning permission would be granted though...agree with Scot here why would you bother?

I'll await that lottery win

I have a friend who has bout 50 acres of woodland and was intending to build a timber framed house from wood that he felled and milled there (hes a very talented woodsman), its been a fecking nightmare sorting the planning and he can only now build a timber framed barn for a bit of woodwork, not buisness, just personal stuff, and there are a lot of limitations on the building. I dont think the issue is so much the land or skill, its the pp thats often the problem.

Just a sidenote, its the guy i have posted about before who has the bull x who was rescued from a carpark as a pup.

Maybe its a good safe investment if you have got pots and pots of money. Maybe over the longterm the return is a good safe bet? Has land itself ever gone down in value longterm, I doubt it. Plus the value of the standing timber, grants etc.

Think he's met the bloke. He was all looking good until neighbours complained. . . . about nothing at all. Some miserable b*****d will usually throw a spanner in the works.
