Catch rate on 1st hare (pre ban)

So as the title suggests! for you guys lucky enough to have been coursing hares before the ban! Or in Ireland! How often did dogs pick up there 1st hare they coursed if ever! or how long does it take for them to start picking them up regularly?

First one my dog got at 10 month old while out mooching on some decent size fields, took it straight tho a hedge and got it 50 foot into the next field.

The girlfriends brother thought it was a rock untill it got up lol

9 months and she didn't see it till it was about 150 metres away. I thought it was a fluke then she did the same thing in pretty much the same circumstances a week later and she never looked back

I'm quite impressed I thought they would need to run a few to pick them up! Seems they figure them out pretty quick! Suppose it depends on the dog as well though!

not mine mate, started her about 13/14 months.. missed a few, steamin in 100mph at everything and over running a lot. fast and agressive but superb to watch! atb

id of thought if a dog was starting at the start of the season it would probarly have a higher catch rate on there first to if they started back end of the season when running there first , but some dogs are just natural and take to it like a duck to water imo
