popped out of place

Recommended Posts

had a dig to my young bitch last week the day after i noticed her with her back leg off the ground i went over checked her found nothing under the foot so left her she put it down and was grand left her alone but the next day i noticed it again i streched her leg out and felt her joint popping back in2 place she put it down and was fine 15 minutes later the same up on 3 legs i done the same streched her leg and twisted it slightly with some light pressure and i could feel it popping back in she doesnt seem to be in any pain atal and when its popped back in she is jumping around on it but it keeps popping back out.now it has me worried i asked a friend about it and he said her leg could be f****d has this happened to anyone before as it has never happened to any dog i have ever owned

yeh had a black one very same as you said digger, my vet who is good man with workin dogs said its fine plenty of rest after a hunt, and surgery could cause more problems.this bitch could run and work under/over no problem but got very stiff the day after and needed good rest.

Sounds like the dog has a luxating patella.

Here is a link to the Wiki page.

Have a read and make your own judgements. I have an 11yr old pet terrier with it in both hind legs. She has not had any surgery for it and it doesnt seem to slow her down. Be careful when choosing a dog to line her with, as it is an inherited condition.

that seems to be whats up with her alright.its shit cause the bitch has not been to much work and for me to get her an op on it and for her to fail would be a bummer but i like the bitch and shes out of decent stuff.was out with her thismorning and she was fine i watched her out the window for a half hour this morning and it seems she lyes down and that leg everytime she gets up small limp then its like it pops back in and shes fine guess il just have to wait it out till i make any decision thanks for that unlacedgecko
