223 FMJ v 223 ballistic?

Recommended Posts

Stick to your v-max. FMJ's are target ammo. I've shot prvi partisans and they didn't work for me but i got magtechs for the same money and they grouped fine. It depends on your rifle. You won't get the same kills with soft points that you will with v-max but they're not bad.

does it matter if the bullet goes through, how many times do you shoot rabbits with the .22 and the bullet stays in the rabbit. if your shooting at a fox then you have found a safe shot to shoot, backstop should be behind all shots?

When a bullet exits any animal, it means that some of the energy of that bullet hasn't been used, or dumped, in that animal. An expanding bullet, as against a fmj which is not designed to expand, creates a bigger surface area as it expands, dumping more energy, and at the same time crushing and tearing body tissue and bones.

This will generally result in greater shock to the animal, and more likelihood of death if the bullet doesn't hit the brain/heart/lung area.

OK in next breath anyone tried Prvi Partizan in 223

I honestly think the low price of these can actually put people off. For a foxing round they're fine. If you're looking at scoring three hits on a 5p piece a long way away then maybe not.

They have to be fmj for military, not because they are less lethal, but because expanding is prohibited because of the horrific injuries that can occur, that then are more difficult to repair. That is my understanding anyway. I think it all stemmed from the prohibition of Dum Dum bullets.

As a result of that though, more people probably survive, as a result of being shot with fmj than they would with expanding.

I am quite sure a hole host of ammo gets used overseas at this minute in time
