Lurcher x lurcher but no saluki blood. Kept me in meat when my kids were small 20 year ago.

A mix of lurcher to lurcher breeding devoid of saluki a consistent hare killer in the 70s they were loads more like this dog without saluki blood that could catch hares regular and consistant years a

Mods quick sort it out, whins got onto Tomos account

would of loved to go to a coursing meeting pre-ban, i bet the atmosphere was brilliant

I can remember one meet i went to around Thirsk, proberbly early 80s, i think it was Yorkshire running against Ireland, i saw about 70 Hares ran that day and only around 3 or 4 hares were caught, the hares were preserved on the land for coursing, now theres a ban on coursing i bet theres very few now, a good example of how hunting can be good for our wildlife, buster.

hello mate,

i live at thirsk, and i used to go and watch the coursing on that land, I've got friends who live on that land now, and i have a walk on that land most weeks it doesn't matter if you walk during the day or go lamping, theres been no big numbers of hares there for years, they have been killed off and shot, to almost extinction, on there,

THATS WHAT THE BAN HAS DONE FOR THE HARE. on the coursing land across the country

Other crosses will catch hares but there really is no comparison to the saluki cross , that's why we run nothing els

Your right bud. This was twenty odd years ago when there was not as many saluki crosses about but this dog did take hares week in week out!

such a waste. it annoys me when i hear the media talking about the decline of hares and blaming coursing! coursing was one of the things that helped preserve the hare ffs!

Yep Cocker, sad but true, same on Altcar Estate. You can now walk from one end of that land to the other an not put one up. They are still there but will never be in the numbers of yesteryear...
