Gaz_1989 9,539
What sort of sizes are your terrier kennels and runs? Ive recently had to split my lurcher and terrier after a scrap, the terrier has been in the house for the last week while I ordered some galvanised panels and a kennel box for her. The lurcher has stayed in the 12’ x 4’ kennel and run. Ive purchased 6 x 1m panels for the terrier, the bar type with 5cm gaps, one with a door in. Also got her a really decent tongue and groove kennel box, 24” wide, 18” deep, 14” tall, with a lift up lid and a plastic cat-flap type door on the front, really top notch kennel. Ive constructed the panels to make a 2m x 1m run (6’ x 3’ roughly) and put the kennel box at the back. Also put corrugated plastic roofing sheets on the whole lot so she can go out for a piss when its raining etc. I think the world of my dogs and always try to do my best by them. This whole set up as probably cost me in the region of £300, times are hard at the minute and I could of done with getting her something crappy for £100 but that’s not fair, she didn’t ask to end up with someone who cant afford to house her properly, so ive made cuts elsewhere and got her the best I could. Then my next door neighbour pops his head over and starts ranting and raving about how its cruel keeping a dog in that “cage” all day and how hes reporting me to the RSPCA… Bla bla bla. Im absoloutly fuming. Needless to say I told him where to go. Its just really annoyed me. I think it’s a little palace compared to what some dogs get to live in. She gets a good walk every morning, 3 mile minimum, often 5 mile and sometimes 8-10 mile. Plus every night she is out in the garden playing with my daughter and wanders in and out of the house, sometimes just for 20 minutes, sometimes for a few hours, most weekends we are in the garden all day and the dogs are free roaming. And then she gets work whenever ive got it, ratting, bushing, coming shooting with me etc. I honestly believe that she has got a decent little set up and gets plenty of time out the kennel and run. Am I right or am I being a cruel ba5tard? Cheers Gaz Quote Link to post
