Guest Lurcherbitch
My pup who will be 1yr next month, is a little bugger. when i am out alone with her training or just having fun she is pure gold, BUT when she is out with the other dogs she is a f*****g pain. She runs about skipping, jumping six feet in the air, she jumps on the other dogs, chews ther neck, she thinks poor griz (border terrier) is her toy. If i put her on the lead she will be as good as gold again, let her off and she turns into phsyco pup again . HELP!!!! Edited June 15, 2007 by Lurcherbitch Quote Link to post

Guest Frank
Sounds just like pure excitment and play, but too much If she is fine on the lead, keep her on their, till she settles when out with the others prehaps? A couple of lamped bunnys should calm her a bit too. Frank. Quote Link to post
alimac 882
stop being so impacient (sp) its still a pup, give it time to mature, we were all as mad as that when we were young... mine didnt stop coursing the terriers till it was nearly 2, never hurt them but yes im sure it pissed the terriers off... skycat 6,173
It's far from uncommon LB! I have had 2 like that recently: they do grow out of it, but you need to be careful it doesn't develop into a habit as well. I tend to take this sort out only on their own until they have grown up a lot: serious work usually sorts them out: I can't even point the finger at any particular breed or type of lurcher: it's just the individual nature of the beast: usually very high energy and intelligent with it. Can you exercise the pup where there are plenty of rabbits to occupy her mind and body? Once these little darlings know what they're born for they usually come right. Don't worry if she doesn't catch any: she'll be learning what to do and what not to do as she hunts them. My most 'recent pain', just turning 1 year old is fine as long as she has rabbits to occupy her now: still referts to "Let's stalk a dog" and "Headlong crash into granny" if there's not anything else to do! Spike01 0
My collie X did it for ages until the new lab got here and she did it to him He never does it now runs like hell to get a way from her. The other just poke up with it but it wont be long before she gets flipped and put in her place Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
She'll calm down in a few months. Get her out on her own and try burning off some of that energy training recall with a ball or lure. MOLL. Quote Link to post
Guest Lurcherbitch
Thanks guys. Bless her the little cow. She is out a lot, but i have been reading about not over doing the excersize in youngsters. because of where i live. HERE I am out a lot. this is where i even pop them out for a pee n poo. They are walked for an hour or two at 4,30am. I take them to a woods too for variety, then again for an hour or two in the evening. Sunshine comes with me everywhere even to the shop I take her out on her own twice a day just to bond and a bit of training, her recall is 110%, I just shout PUP and she will turn on a sixpence, she will even come back if i raise my arm in the air, as i have trained her this way. So i am now confused I have read not to over do it with a youngster, now been adviced to do more . Now you have read my excersize am i doing too much or not enough?. Thank you for all reply's. SKYCAT my neighbour wants to marry you, he said you are the most sensible woman on the planet, i slapped in for that Quote Link to post

Guest SJM
Shes just being a normal pup, a bit of play rough and tumble, running around is good for them, but if its annoying you why not exercise the pup seperately from the adult dogs? take a ball with you or something and have a game with her to burn off some steam. Its a relatively straight forward thing to solve Quote Link to post
