paulus 26
if its in the house the the radio or tv left on might work or a cuddly toy to sleep with, dogs learn by association so the water trick might also work but depends on the individual pup Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
How do i stop my saluki whipp grey crying when in a crate? How old is it? If it is a young pup, then sleep on a mattress next to the crate for the first few nights: that way it won't feel scared and alone: you just stick your hand into the crate and stroke it, but also, if the pup has been carefully reared, it won't want to pee in the crate: you take it outside every few hours for the first week or so by which time a pup will usually have the hang of the housetraining thing, but bear in mind that young pups can't hold their pee for very long at all: they need to go every couple of hours or so. 1 Quote Link to post
Casso 1,261
How do i stop my saluki whipp grey crying when in a crate? dont play with the pup in the house, think about it, the house becomes a play area in the pups mind, and when in the crate he is missing out, like bringing a runner ferreting and leaving him in a crate beside us, he rip the f**king thing apart, same mindset bud, Outside play/ inside rest, cuts out all the bullshit, dogs get used to coming in and chilling out because they wont develop a physical memory of play indoors, make the crate a positive, feed in the crate, and no attention in the house , best of luck Edited October 2, 2012 by Casso Quote Link to post

That's what I had to do with my saluki x. She Sharp got the hang of it. Although she still loves a whine now and then Quote Link to post
