rossthedog 76
right have been on 1or 2 digs in my time with a few different terrier enthusiasts in a few different locations even wales but more of that when the nightmares have been cured,oh those poor sheep, right after the dig has been comleted nd the quarry dealt with a quick swig out the coke bottle or flask, now the task of back filling begins or does it i have seen men in the bottom of digs with bits of pipe stiks lumps of rock allsortes trying to rebuild what was the tube carrying out feats of engineering that puts the channel tunnel to shame ,some earths cant be repaired easily those pie crust 6inch deep places that your feet keep falling through they do exist and a hard pushed fox will of coarse use them, then i have been on digs where its jus shovel the excavted soil back inas quick as possable and on to the next.i personaly believe that it doesnt realy matter what method you use as long as the earth is putback and repaired to the same state that you found it the rest can generaly be left to the future inhabitants to repair. Tam O'Void 297
Bit like "GRAVITY" what goes up must come down. What comes out must go back in ...simple and sometimes some kit gets knocked in aswell ,always a good idea keep bag, stuff well back, from a keen "backfiller" 4 Quote Link to post
rexdigger 54
For me it's the same as digging the hole in the first place just in reverse Quote Link to post
artful212 394
i put a sod in first to bridge the tube then carry on with the soil and the same sod on top that was first removed back in place basically leave it the way i found it 3 Quote Link to post
BIG G wheton machine 1,594
WE JUST USE THE DIRT THAT COMES OUT DOESNT MATTER IF IT FILLS PART OF THE TUBE THE QUARRY USUALLY DIGS THROUGHT IT AGAIN IF IT WANTS TO 2 Quote Link to post

Waz 4,252
If im in woods and a few of us are backfilling a deep spot ill have a look round for dead branches, older and more rotten the better, but not necessary to bridge the tube, just to bulk up what we've got to backfill with. Rare that ive dug the exact same spot on an earth thinking about it. Edited October 2, 2012 by GD Waz Quote Link to post
digger. 615
couple of branches, couple of sods, muck back in sod on top done Quote Link to post
KING PUCK 14
cant believe people are using branches as a back fill, thats why so many earths have "sink" holes around the country Quote Link to post
CO CHISE 329
my method of back filling is to get randolph to do it for me Quote Link to post
whippet 99 2,613
why fill it with rocks and shit .................................when you may be digging it out later on ..................talk about making work Quote Link to post
lurcher330 2,297
it depends if i dig mid tube or in the stopend, mid tube i would bridge the tube with a good sod then start to back fill ,but if it is at the stop end just fill back in it won't make much difference to the earth,if your left with a bit of a dip when you have finished backfilling with what you have took out just cut a sod from some where else and fill it in Quote Link to post
