Ideation 8,216
Hadn't planned on going out last night, but the weather was good, despite the moon so thought i would have a quick look out, even though the local area is usually devoid of rabbits. Grabbed the lamp and battery, which i thought had been charged and nipped over the back fence. Had a shine about and saw a couple, had to give the dog a long slip, down hill, he made the ground up well, cathcing up with the bunny as it hit an old stream bed, the rabbit tried to leap up the bank, and was neatly snatched out of the air. Dog back, and another shine about revealed a couple of bunnys right up the other end of the field, so walked up a bit and let him go, this time, it didnt make the hedge, snatched by the back legs on the run. Slipped on a third bunny by another hedge and just as he turned it, the fecking lamp went out . . . . turns out 'someone' had unplugged the battery in favour of their phone!!! Walked back home, swapped for another battery and a field the other side of the house, on the hope of another run or two. There is a bunny that lives in a pile of old scrap (just the one lol), ive run him twice and hes beat the dog to it both times, but tonight was our night! Sat out in the middle, he didnt have much chance of making sanctury, and the dog snapped him up with style. Spotted one more by the far fence, sent him off, and he looked good to catch it, was about to strike, but clattered into the fence at speed, it made me wince across the field! Decided then, to call it a night as that was it without having to stomp off, and three is good for local and i had work the next day. 6 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Normally he would be trying to swing the rabbits about or generally acting up, but he had just winded himself, so he was behaving Little fecker is staring at me now, willing me to take him out! It's bright as day though. Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,775
Having better luck than me. Seem to be more badgers about than rabbits! All afternoon the weather will be perfect, then come late evening all the wind has gone with the cloud cover and that big fecking moon illuminating the world like a giant flood light! Hopefully a few weeks will bring better luck for me..... Well done! 3 Quote Link to post

Stefjm 0
Haven't had much better weather in west wales. I went out the other night to a new place which is completely unlamped, luckily everything was squatting and managed to bag six in just under an hour! Had to come home because I couldn't carry anymore in my rucksack with my battery in there as well lol Quote Link to post
