Tyla 3,179
IMO theres nothing wrong with a dog that holds a netted rabbit as long as its not crunching it. Theres plenty of times when your alone doing hedges or thick bits that you can lose rabbits by not being able to get to them fast enough. It all depending on the type of ferreting you do i suppose. The only downside is that they may miss a bolter while they're holding but one in the hand is worth two in the bush and all that lol Lovely pics by the way leveller. Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
I like a dog that holds a rabbit in the net but not standing over the hole, means its over the uncovered hole if another rabbit bolts, good pix Quote Link to post
Sirius 1,391
Twas a good do mate, shame i had to cut it short after receiving some bad news But things are looking up now fingers crossed Not to bad considering it was just a few hours and most of it was walking on those hills, it just aint easy loaded up like a pack horse, its a fair old workout, even worse when you have a good haul of conys on your shoulders. Like leveller said that rabbit was dabbed at the mouth of the hole half in the net, but that's ferreting al-sorts can happen. Personally that dog of mine has seen a few seasons rabbiting and I have no issue with him holding/guarding a rabbit in the net he not a crunching nutter of a dog and with me being often a lone ferreter i can trust him to keep things under control Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
Gee wizz the dog bagged a bunnie that was about to back net itself..where is the fault in that..come to think of it where is the fault in a dog holding a bunnie in the net..i have seen many bunnie's struggle free from the net's because i or who i was out with where not quick enough..in them situation's a dog would be very handy..
