Hatton to fight Senchenko

I say this with tounge in cheek mate, but sometimes I think you'd have a very different opinion of Joe if he was a fighter who came through one of the London gyms instead of being trained by his old man in a little place in the valleys with no real pedigree or history behind it!:thumbs:

You dont need to say it tongue in cheek mate i accept im probably a touch biased towards East End fighters....but im not completely blinkered..........

What you need to remember is Calzaghe held the WBO title,by far the least prestigious of the belts......why didnt he want to unify the belts ?......as a " world " champion you should face the world anywhere in the world.............like you say we,ve probably had the conversation before so no need going over old ground......but who do you think is better known WORLDWIDE in the boxing world Joe Calzaghe or Roy Jones ?........kind of tells its own story when Calzaghe beat him in a fight and was unbeaten in his career ;)

Nothing wrong with a bit of bias mate, shows you're proud of your area and your roots! :good: I'm exactly the same where Calzaghe is concerned, he can do no wrong in my eyes! It don't really matter to me if Jones was the better fighter because at the end of the day. he ain't Welsh! He has got a Welsh surname though, wonder if we can lay any claim to him.... :hmm::laugh::thumbs:

cant really lay claim to a "calzaghe" tho can you........... :hmm: saying he is welsh is like saying kahn is english...................

cant really claim to be a liverpool supporter coming from derby :hmm::laugh::thumbs: john

thats a stupid reply, given the fact that hatton has never tested positive, had world title fights and has done more for british boxing than alot of fighters in the last ten years........but as always

Had a look at this Senchenkos record earlier....35 years old so older than Hatton.....last fight he was knocked out by Malignagi who cant punch through a crisp packet dont think he,s ever knocked anyo

calzaghe?????

In a way i feel for Welsh boxing fans simply because yous have had a very good fighter in Calzaghe, yet nobody will ever really know how good, hence why there is so much debate about him..........some fighters you cant have these debates because everything is there for all to see......yet Calzaghe was so shifty outside the ring he has left the sport with more questions than answers......yet for average joe public they see the words " unbeaten " and jump on a bandwagon without studying the details......for instance, how many fighters do you see that stay the same weight their entire career, very few....between the ages of about 21 - 35 his weight never fluctuated by any more than about 3 lb................yet suddenly as a 36 year old he jumps up 6 lb !!.....A critic would look at that and say well he could of moved up 3/5/7 years earlier and fought a prime Roy Jones.....but chose not to.......same as regards fighting in America something he once said he wouldnt do.

Likewise Ricky Hatton, probably the best promoted fighter in the history of the sport.......at least Henry Coopers crazy popularity came from his fighting !!....Hattons popularity made his career.....whenever his name gets mentioned you hear people talking about what a funny guy he was and how he was one of the lads and loved a singsong........................so what !!

Im glad to see the back of him maybe now we can concentrate and get behind good honest fighters the likes of Price,Froch,Quigg,Burns....genuine fighters who dont degrade the sport into a popularity show...............i dont think i,ll ever understand the British mentality to sport sometimes i think i just dont fit in

The only thing thats english about our league .is the name feller .Its full of foreign players and is owned by foreign investors .Thats one of the reasons why our international team is so poor .I Laugh when i hear commentators say the english league strongest in the world , .Wheres the english players ,theyre either sniffing coke ,raping some bird ,or pissed up .
