I had a call out today from a keeper who's at his wits end, he'd been losing birds as they come off roost and couldn't get the culprit with a gun as the pen is surrounded by maize. There were wires everywhere and he was desperate (he must've been to call me before anybody else says it).

 

I found a likely spot and dropped the young red dog in he was on the mark in no time baying away for all he's worth I sat back over the netted holes quietly waiting for a bolt but it wasn't going to be. So I checked on the box 1.2m and made the decision that the dog was probably trapped so in accordance with the law I dug down and rescued him. Nice and easy going I lifted him clear rammed my spade over the tube and coupled him up back out the way safely. Loaded the pistol and dispatched a big old dog fox much to the keepers delight. That's three for this red dog already this season, last year was his first season and I only had three to him all season because he had no reverse gear and spent months in the sickbay but having the summer to mature a bit seems to have done him the world of good........................................onwards and upwards

Brilliant result..quite shocked to see that old charlie was at home at this time of year?..usually need a drop in temperature to have much success with the terriers imo with what limited experience i've had with them ..do you not find the same Leveller?..ATB Andy.

The temperature has dropped a little bit we even had a frost that morning and it's also been quite wet, I guess I got lucky
